| Barnhart can stop the circus | ||||

Larry Orton, father of the Wildcats' top incoming recruit, has made it clear via unanswered phone messages to Barnhart that unless he gets word Gillispie is staying at Kentucky, his son Daniel will bolt for another school.
Some of the coaches who decided not to come to Kentucky factored in the intense scrutiny that they would face from the rabid UK fans that is unlike any other in the nation. The silence is deafening. Comments (11)

Good article. Thank you. You are exactly right. Barnhart is doing Kentucky no favors with his silence. |

Great article, as always, Vic While I'm ok with the silence, it is not in UK's best interest to let this fester. Perception is 98% of everything. |

Mismanagement from UK Administrators Todd is apparently the puppet master. Your correct....the silence is damaging the already fragile climate of the UK basketball program. Todd needs to allow Barnhart to do his job...define the adjustments needed (including a signed contract)... then allow BCG to do his job. |

UK AD is off his hinges If gillispie and the players are communicating as well as gillispie says, Barnhart should nut up and get the contract signed to keep the UK pride. Kentucky would have a legitimate chance of a final four run next season if Coach G could convince Meeks and Patterson to stay, with the arrival of Orton the maturing of Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins kentucky would be deadly. |

Thoughts About Billy's contract, one main reason he won't sign is because one stipulation that Barnhart is allowed to sign off on all recruits. He and Todd don't want any (possible) one and dones. When your AD has control of your recruiting, it makes it hard for a coach to operate and go for the big names. Rumor has it that these stipulations are also what kept B. Donovan from coming to The Nation. About life with the big three gone, imagine this: UK fans "ran-off" Tubby two years ago, UK fans are trying to "run-off" BCG. What caliber of coach is going to come into that environment? A few problems with some un-experienced players (remember, Meeks was hurt last year, P Pat was a freshman, and Stevenson was mediocre at best) and they are being "run-off" by fans as well? We as fans, for the good of the program, have to let BCG stay. If we push him out we are not only going to lose Patterson and Meeks, we are going to lose any respectable ground we have on recruiting a new coach. If BCG stays we are going to have great recruits (at least the best he can get with Barnhart looking over his shoulder) and return 99.9% of our scoring. We are losing J. Carter and maybe a few transfers, but the core of our team will still be here if Billy is still here. Billy has a semi-proven track record and knows basketball inside and out. When Harrellson cannot make even 1 of 3 shots from 1 foot under the basket (as happened in the first half of Monday's game), Billy can't do it for him. He shouldn't have to spend half of his time-out explaining what a pick 'n roll is. We have limited experience, no true and reliable point guard, and two stars with bulls-eyes on their backs. It's just going to take time and the fans need to learn some patience. |

Time Listen Rome wasnt made in 2 years how do some uk fans expect uk to get back on track in two years?? Tubby left the program at an all time low and it will take work to get it back to what it used to be..uk's tradition is based on a 100 years of winning and you just have to give BG some time...patience is a value |

... Now here’s a thought, maybe Barnhart should go and Billy G stay, there are a lot of Ky fans who would rather see this happen. |

Save Billy G. Give Billy G. a chance. He is a great recruiter. At least give him a shot with his recruits. I agree Barnhart is the one who should go. Remove the handcuffs from Billy G. and let him do his job! By the way, who would you replace him with? Who else would want that pressure? I think the fans should back off, take a deep breath, and feel lucky who you do have! GO CATS!!! |

wildweed to all the billy bashers, there is no one on this team that could start for any other div.1 schools with the exception of meeks and patterson.only one or two who could even set the bench. All in all I think billy g. did a great job getting as many wins as he did with what he had to work with |

Why not Travis Ford? First of all Tubby should still be at Kentucky. Second, MB has to go. There has to be someone out there with the love of the school and the basketball program who can let a coach run their own team. I wasn't terribly happy about BCG coming and was a little put of by Billy Donovan giving the cold shoulder however I liked the Texas A & M squad BCG left and when I watch the team we have now with his recruits from last year on the floor with PP, Meeks, and Slim Stevenson we look a lot like them Memphis teams of the past several years (w/OUT THE 1ST ROUND PG....LOL). I feel we need to let BCG stick it out, he has won at two schools has had no expectation to win, and we want to see a banner hanging every year. He can coach and yes he can be a bit of a butt at times, I think he can recruit. I feel all of this should fall on the shoulders of MB, not BCG. Next year with the recruits in place, I'm not gonna say final four but if Jodie and PP stay, without losing anymore kids to transfer (HOW MUCH WOULD DERRICK JASPER HAVE HELPED THIS YEAR?) with Orton, Hood, and G.J. it can be a great mix. My final thought is, does anyone know a rumor or fact of why Travis Ford wasn't offered the UK position? Just curious. |

... I think that maybe Kentucky should consider hiring a new athletic director... What has Mitch Barnhart done since hes been around anyway??? Start with the brass and work your way down if you want to stop the Kentucky basketball downfall.... |
