Earlier this summer, shortly after a trip to Kentucky's Elite Camp, San Diego High School small forward Terrence Boyd named the Wildcats as his leader. Now, he may be on the verge of making that official as Boyd told Kentucky Ink Thursday night that he will likely commit to Kentucky on his next trip to Lexington. "I already felt comfortable," Boyd said. "I think the next time I get down there, I'll commit." Although Boyd will most likely not make the trip to Big Blue Madness October 10 in order to focus on his academics, he said he is in the process of setting something up with the UK coaching staff. "I would love to, but I don't think it's going to happen," Boyd said of a potential Madness visit. "Whenever we can schedule something. Coaches come up all the time. I'm going to see if I can get them (the UK staff) to come out here." At 6-4, 225-pounds, Boyd, who has the look of a prototypical middle-linebacker, is a physical guard who attacks the rim and thrives in transition. In the spring, alongside fellow UK target Daniel Orton, Boyd helped Athletes First to its second straight AAU national title in Orlando, Fla. Prior to that, Boyd attended UK's Elite Camp and came away impressed. "It's a basketball state," Boyd said. "The facilities, the environment is crazy and Coach Gillispie develops his players and gets them to the league. Plus I felt really comfortable with the guys, especially (Patrick) Patterson." Boyd has been well traveled during his high school career, playing at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. before transferring to his home school in Norman, Okla. where he was ruled ineligible for his junior season. Now Boyd is eager to get back on the court and has moved to the west coast in order to solidify his academic standing. "We were looking to get out of the midwest," Boyd said. "We looked for a school to fit my academic needs so I can get my SAT scores and get ready to go to college." Enter San Diego High School, where he will play alongside one of the elite players in the 2010 class in power forward Jeremy Tyler. "He has all the talent in the world," Boyd said. "He's a diamond in the sky. I'm looking forward to helping him out and winning some games." Comments (0)
